EFFECTIVE JAN.21, 2022: MATA is running a Saturday Plus schedule Monday-Friday for routes 7, 8, 36, 42, 50, and 52. The Saturday Plus schedule will provide early morning trips for the routes listed. All other routes will continue to operate a regular Saturday schedule on weekdays. Weekday trips will still end at the final trip time of each route's Saturday schedule. EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 18, 2021: The Cooper-Young Festival will impact service on Route 2 all day due to street closures on Cooper and Young. Route 2 Outbound trips will travel east on Madison, turn right on McLean, and left on Southern to continue their regular route. Route 2 Inbound trips will travel west on Southern, turn right on McLean, and left on Madison to continue their regular route.

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2021: Fixed-Route Bus service improvements will add new trips on weekdays to Routes 2, 4, 7, 12, 13, 28, 30, 32, 36, 42, 50, 52, 57. Click here for complete details and updated maps and timetables for these routes.

EFFECTIVE MAY 29, 2021 from 6 to 11 a.m: Due to the Great American River Run, Hudson Transit Center and all Downtown and Uptown bus stops west of Danny Thomas will not be in service. All Downtown buses will leave from Adams and Neely. Customers near Hudson Transit Center can board a shuttle at Second and Mill to take them to Adams and Neely. Below are the detours for each route:

Route 1 Union: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas, and left on Union to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Union, turn right on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Routes 2 Madison and 36 Lamar: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Jefferson, turn right on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Routes 4 Walker and 34 Walnut Grove: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas, and left on Vance to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Vance, turn right on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 8 Chelsea: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, and right on Chelsea to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Chelsea, turn left on Thomas, and left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 11 Frayser: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel south on Thomas and turn left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 12 Florida: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas, and right on GE Patterson to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Florida, turn right on Crump, left on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 13 Lauderdale: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas, right on GE Patterson, and left on Hernando to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Fourth, turn right on Crump, left on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Routes 19 Vollintine and 52 Jackson: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, and right on Jackson to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Jackson, turn left on Danny Thomas, and left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 39 South Third: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas, right on GE Patterson, and left on Third to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Third, turn right on Crump, left on Danny Thomas, and right on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 40 Stage: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, and right on Stage to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Stage, turn left on Thomas, and left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 50 Poplar: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, and turn right on Poplar to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Poplar, turn left on Danny Thomas, and left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 53 Summer: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, and right on North Pkwy to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on North Pkwy, turn left on Danny Thomas, and left on Adams to end at Adams and Neely.

Route 57 Park: Outbound trips will depart from Adams and Neely, continue east on Adams, turn left on Dunlap, left on Poplar, left on Danny Thomas to continue their regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Danny Thomas, and turn right on Adams end at Adams and Neely.

EFFECTIVE MAY 23, 2021 at 3:12 p.m.: All Main Street Trolleys are now operating again. MATA apologizes for the inconvenience. 

EFFECTIVE MAY 23, 2021 at 2:21 p.m.: The Main Street Trolleys are not currently operating (both north and southbound directions). There is a power outage affecting the substations. The Trolley team is aware of it and is currently monitoring it. Additional updates will be shared via Omnilert. MATA apologizes for the inconvenience. 

EFFECTIVE MAY 9, 2021: Due to safety concerns, a few timepoints on Routes 1, 39, and 42 will be adjusted but no timing and routing changes will be made.

Johnson Ave at Johnson Cir on Route 1 will change to Johnson Ave at Gracewood St.

Holmes Rd at Tulip Rd and Holmes Rd at Atkins Dr on Route 39 will change to Holmes Rd at Third St and Jonetta St at Holmes Rd, respectively.  

Airways Blvd at Holmes Rd on Route 42 will change to Holmes Rd at Hudgins Rd.

EFFECTIVE MARCH 19, 2021: Riverside Drive is no longer closed. The Riverfront Trolley Shuttle Line will operate its regular route seven days a week now. Click here to see the updated map.

EFFECTIVE MARCH 17, 2021 at 12:57 p.m.: Due to inclement weather currently in the Memphis area, please expect 8-12 minute delays on most bus routes. 

EFFECTIVE MARCH 4, 2021: At this time, the entire MATA Internet and phone network (this includes all phone lines) are not operational. This affects all areas at MATA. The IT team has just received notice of this outage from the Company's Internet and phone service provider. Additional updates will be shared later once more information is available. MATA apologizes for any inconvenience.

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 28, 2021: Until further notice, Route 13 Lauderdale is detoured away from Fourth and Laclede due to road issues. Outbound trips will travel south on Fourth, turn right on Walker, and left on Latham to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Latham, turn right on Walker, and turn left on Fourth to continue the regular route.

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 28, 2021: MATA is opening an additional trolley station on the Main Street Rail Line at Central Station, extending the trolley line further south. Click here for new Trolley map and details.

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 22, 2021: MATA plans to resume all normal operations tomorrow including offering regular weekday service on all modes. All previous detours are cancelled except Route 13 Lauderdale. Outbound trips will travel east on GE Patterson, right on Third, left on South Parkway, right on Lauderdale, left on Alton, right on Longview, and right on Lauderdale to begin Inbound trips. Inbound trips will go north on Lauderdale, left on South Parkway, and right on Third to continue the regular route. Several bus routes will have detours due to inclement weather.

Route 1 Union: Outbound trips will travel west on Walnut Grove from Walnut Grove at Holmes and continue on Walnut Grove to Walnut Grove at Tillman begin Inbound trips. Inbound trips will turn left on Tillman, right on Poplar, left on Union Extd., and continue on to Union to follow the regular route.

Route 2 Madison: Outbound trips will travel east on Poplar, turn left on Pauline, and left on Madison to continue the regular route.

Route 4 Walker: Outbound trips will travel south on Second, left on MLK, right on Danny Thomas, left on Mississippi, left on South Parkway, right on Bellevue, left on Elliston, left on Perry, right on Dunn, and right on Frisco to continue the regular route.

Route 7 Shelby & Holmes: Outbound trips will travel south on Getwell, left on Shelby, right on Crumpler, right on Holmes, right on Hickory Hill to Hickory Hill and Shelby where Inbound trips will begin by turning left and traveling west on Shelby, turn right on Getwell to continue on the regular route.

Route 8 Chelsea & Highland: Outbound trips will travel east on Chelsea, turn left on Hollywood, take I-40 east to the Warford South exit, travel south on Warford, left on Jackson, right on Macon, right on National to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on National, left on Macon, left on Jackson, right on Warford, and left on Chelsea to continue the regular route.

Route 11 Frayser: There will be no service to the Amazon Distribution Center on Victory Ridge Cove

Route 13 Lauderdale: Outbound trips will travel east on GE Patterson, right on Third, left on South Parkway, right on Lauderdale, left on Alton, right on Longview, and right on Lauderdale to begin Inbound trips. Inbound trips will go north on Lauderdale, left on South Parkway, and right on Third to continue the regular route.

Route 22 Raines: Outbound trips will travel south on Perkins and turn left on Winchester to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Winchester and turn right on Perkins to continue the regular route.

Route 32 Hollywood & Hawkins Mills: Trips will not serve any streets north of Frayser Blvd and will turn around at Frayser and Redcoat.

Route 36 Lamar: Outbound trips will travel east on Kimball and turn right on Getwell to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Getwell and turn left on Kimball to continue the regular route.

Route 39 S. Third: Outbound trips will travel south on Third, left on Horn Lake, right on Shelby to Shelby and Third where Inbound trips will begin by turning right and traveling north on Third.

Route 40 Stage: Outbound trips will travel north on Third, right on Chelsea, left on Thomas, right on I-240 to the Watkins St exit, head north on Watkins, right on Delano to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel east on Delano, left on Watkins, right on I-40, take the Thomas St exit, right on Chelsea, and left on Third to continue the regular route.

Route 42 Crosstown: Southbound trips will travel south on Elvis Presley and turn left on Shelby to continue the regular route. Northbound trips will travel west on Holmes, turn left on Elvis Presley to Bellevue and continue on the regular route until turning right on Overton Crossing, left on James, and left on Watkins to begin Southbound trips.

Route 53 Summer: Outbound trips will east on North Parkway, continue on to Summer, and turn left on Sycamore View to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will not serve Macon and travel north on Sycamore View and turn left on Summer and continue on to North Parkway.

Route 57 Park: Outbound trips will travel south on Second, turn left on Union, right on Bellevue, left on Lamar, and left on Park to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Park, continue on Lamar, right on Bellevue, left on Union, and right on B.B. King to continue the regular route.

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 20, 2021 ONLY: MATA plans to only offer the following service: Fixed-Route bus service will run between 5:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., but only on Routes 1, 11, 28, 32, 39, 42, 50, and 57. These routes were selected based on current road conditions. MATAplus will operate between 5 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., but only for life sustaining trips (this includes trips for dialysis) for customers who have reservations. The William Hudson, Airways and American Way Transit Centers will remain open during service times only between 5:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. (The water fountains are not accessible at this time due to the precautionary boiled water advisory). Please note that the Main Street, Riverfront, and Madison Trolley lines will not operate. Please continue to pay attention to information being shared via Omnilert, on the City of Memphis Nextdoor platform, on MATA Facebook and Twitter pages, and this page. MATAplus will operate between 5 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., but only for life sustaining trips (this includes trips for dialysis) for customers who have reservations. The William Hudson, Airways and American Way Transit Centers will remain open during service times only between 5:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Please note that the Main Street, Riverfront, and Madison Trolley lines will not operate. The William Hudson, Airways and American Way Transit Centers will remain open during service times only between 5:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Please note that the Main Street, Riverfront, and Madison Trolley lines will not operate. Route 28 Airport: Outbound trips will travel east on Winchester and turn right on Getwell to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Getwell and turn left on Winchester to continue the regular route.

Route 32 Hollywood & Hawkins Mills: Trips will not serve any streets north of Frayser Blvd and will turn around at Frayser and Redcoat.

Route 42 Crosstown: Northbound trips will not serve Frayser Plaza and will end by traveling north on Watkins, turn right on Overton Crossing, left on Delano, and left on Watkins to begin Southbound trips. Southbound trips will end by traveling east on Shelby, right on Millbranch, and right on Holmes to begin Northbound trips.

 

EFFECTIVE AT 10 A.M. ON FEBRUARY 16, 2021: Service on all MATA vehicles on ALL modes (bus, trolley and MATAplus) will stop at 10 a.m. TODAY. Please note that MATAplus transportation will continue to provide essential service for dialysis patients. In addition, transportation to the Warming Centers will continue. STARTING AT 8 P.M. ON FEBRUARY 15, 2021 UNTIL FEBRUARY 16, 2021: Due to the continuing worsening inclement weather conditions, service on all MATA vehicles on ALL MODES (bus, trolley, and MATAplus) will stop at 8 p.m. on FEBRUARY 15, 2021. Service on all modes -- with the exception of the Main Street Trolley rail line and Route 6 Northaven -- is expected to resume on FEBRUARY 16, 2021. However, service delays are expected to continue due to the inclement weather. EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 15, 2021: Due to inclement weather, service on Route 6 Northaven is suspended until further notice. The following routes below will be on detour: 

Route 1 Union: Outbound trips will travel east on Union, right on Cooper, left on Central, left on Highland, left on Poplar, right on Holmes, and left on Walnut Grove and end at Walnut Grove and Tillman. Inbound trips will travel south on Tillman, turn left on Poplar, right on Highland, right on Central, right on Cooper, and left on Walnut Grove to continue the regular route.

Route 4 Walker: Outbound trips will travel east on South Parkway, turn right on Elvis Presley, and left on Ellison to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Elliston, turn right on Elvis Presley, and left on South Parkway to continue the regular route.

Route 12 Mallory: Outbound trips will travel south on Second, turn left on GE Patterson, right on Third, left on Crump, left on Florida, and left on Mallory to continue the regular route.

Route 13 Lauderdale: Outbound trips will travel south on Latham and left on South Parkway to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Lauderdale, turn left on South Parkway, and right on Latham to continue the regular route.

Route 28 Airport: Outbound trips will travel east on Winchester and turn right on Getwell to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Getwell and turn left on Winchester to continue the regular route.

Route 31 Firestone: Trips will not serve Decatur and Bammel and turn directly from Breedlove to Firestone and Firestone to Breedlove in both directions.

Route 32 Hollywood & Hawkins Mills: Trips will not serve any streets north of Frayser Blvd and will turn around at Frayser and Redcoat.

Route 38 Boxtown: Outbound trips will not serve Westmount, Oakshire, Levi and Weaver and just travel west on Raines and turn left on Doubletree to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel north on Weaver and turn right on Raines to continue the regular route.

Route 39 S. Third: Weaver Outbound trips will travel south on Third, turn left on Shelby, left on Horn Lake, left on Raines, and right on Third to start its Inbound trips. Horn Lake trips will travel south on Third, turn left on Shelby, left on Horn Lake, left on Mitchell, and right on Rochester to start its Inbound trips.

Route 40 Stage: Outbound trips will travel north on Second, turn right on Chelsea, left on Danny Thomas, and right on Stage to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel west on Stage, turn left on Danny Thomas, right on Chelsea, and left on Second to continue the regular route.

Route 42 Crosstown: Outbound trips will travel south on Airways, turn left on Wilson, left on Hornsby, and right on Holmes to start its Inbound trips. 

Route 69 Winchester: Outbound trips will travel south on Weaver from Weaver and Canary and turn right on Parkrose to continue the regular route. Inbound trips will travel east on Raines, left on Weaver, and right on Mitchell to continue the regular route.

Other routes may be adjusted based on bus supervisor's instructions as the inclement weather progresses.

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 11, 2021: Due to inclement weather, the Main Street Trolley rail line will not operate until further notice. 

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 21, 2021: The Main Street Trolley Line will not be operating from 1-4 p.m. due to some construction work being finished at the Convention Center.  A detour is now in place from the Convention Center to the south end of Main and back to the Convention Center operating on a 20-minute schedule. A shuttle bus will also be in place to pick up passengers on Poplar Avenue connecting them to the William Hudson Transit Center. 

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Bus stops in both directions on Ball Rd. at Silver St. have been permanently been removed. Customers riding Route 12 should use the stops on Norris Rd. at Warren St. instead.

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 31, 2020: The Groove Shuttle will operate its final service on December 31. It will be replaced by a new on-demand service serving Mud Island and the Memphis Medical District in early 2021. For more information, click here

EFFECTIVE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Routes 19, 52, and 53 will be detoured due to the closure of A.W. Willis between Third and Danny Thomas. Routes 19 and 52 outbound trips will leave Hudson Transit Center, turn right on A.W. Willis, right on Second, left on Shadyac, right on Third, left on Jackson, right on Lauderdale, left on Alabama, left on Danny Thomas, and right on Jackson to continue their regular route. Routes 19 and 52 inbound trips will travel west on Jackson, and turn left on Danny Thomas, right on Alabama, right on Lauderdale, left on Jackson, right on Third, and left on Shadyac to turn into Hudson Transit Center. Route 53 outbound trips will leave Hudson Transit Center, turn right on A.W. Willis, right on Second, left on Shadyac, right on Third, left on Jackson, right on Lauderdale, left on Alabama, left on Danny Thomas, and right on North Parkway to continue their regular route. Route 53 inbound trips will travel west on North Parkway, turn left on Danny Thomas, right on Alabama, right on Lauderdale, left on Jackson, right on Third, and left on Shadyac to turn into Hudson Transit Center. Note: This detour has been updated to reflect the November 8 service changes.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 9, 2020: Due to a traffic safety concern, trips on Route 1 traveling inbound will now travel on Tillman and take a right on Walnut Grove which becomes Union Avenue. Inbound bus stops located along Tillman between Walnut Grove and Poplar are impacted. The westbound Poplar at Fenwick stop will not be served. EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 11, 2020 (AS OF 3:45 P.M.): A new map and timetable for Route 1 is available. Click here to view.

UPDATE EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 10, 2020 (AS OF 11:50 A.M.): The trip planning tools powered by Google are now working correctly.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 10, 2020: MATA is currently experiencing an issue with the trip planning tools that are powered by Google. These include the trip planner on the home page of matatransit.com and the trip planning tool associated with MATA Traveler. Routes and schedules information is still showing as out of date. New information was shared with Google a few weeks ago and again yesterday morning. EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 9, 2020: Due to a traffic safety concern, trips on Route 1 traveling inbound will now travel on Tillman and take a right on Walnut Grove which becomes Union Avenue. Inbound bus stops located along Tillman between Walnut Grove and Poplar are impacted.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 9, 2020: Due to a traffic safety concern on Getwell, Route 7 trips will move one block over from Getwell to Air Park between Winchester and Raines. A new Route 7 map has been posted on the Routes and Schedules (click on the Bus tab and then Routes and Schedules on this website) page. 

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 2-5, 2020: Due to construction on South Main Street, all stations south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue on the Main Street Trolley Rail Line will be serviced by a shuttle bus. Customers traveling to and from locations south of Dr. MLK Ave. on Main Street will need to transfer at the MLK station.

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 28, 2020: The Main Street Trolley Rail Line will return to regular service.

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 12-27, 2020: Due to switch replacement and drainage maintenance on South Main Street, the Main Street Trolley Rail Line will only run rail trolleys on tracks between Poplar and Peabody Place every 20 minutes. All stations south of Peabody Place on Main Street will be serviced by a van or trolley bus. Customers traveling to and from locations south of Peabody Place on Main Street will need to transfer at the Peabody Place station.

EFFECTIVE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: The Riverfront Trolley Shuttle Bus will detour off Riverside Drive, turn right on Main Street, left on Talbot, right on Second, left on G.E. Patterson, and right on Main Street to head north onto the regular route.

EFFECTIVE UNTIL OCTOBER 27: Due to the construction on the Renasant Convention Center, service will be impacted on the Main Street Trolley rail line from November 14, 2019 – October 27, 2020. This is an extension due to delays in construction work. Click here for an updated map.

EFFECTIVE MAY 22: Memphis Light, Gas and Water crews will repair an emergency water leak from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on South Main between Pontotoc and Vance that will impact the Main Street and Riverfront Trolley lines. Here's the detour information: The Main Street Trolley will short turn at the MLK Station and head back to the Convention Center. The stations not being served by the Main Street Trolley rail line is: MLK (NB), Huling (NB and SB) and Butler Station (NB and SB). After 11 a.m., passengers will be able to use the Riverfront Trolley NB (Riverfront passengers will only picked up at the following NB stations only: Butler, Huling, and MLK Station). The Riverfront Trolley is operating every 40 minutes.

EFFECTIVE MAY 9-24: The Main Street Trolley rail line will be detoured due to the removal of the Clock Tower by Public Works in preparation of the Loews Hotel construction. The Main Street Trolley's northern end point will be Court Square. Customers will need to transfer to the Trolley Bus Shuttle to travel northbound towards the William Hudson Transit Center.

EFFECTIVE MAY 4: The Groove Shuttle (Route 500) will adjust its route and schedule due to ridership trends. The route will run every 40 minutes, Monday through Friday from 6:30 - 9 a.m. and 4 - 6:30 p.m. and no longer serve the Southern College of Optometry at this time. EFFECTIVE FROM MARCH 30 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Following Memphis and Shelby County's "safer at home" orders to reduce the spread of COVID-19 disease, Routes 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 17, 18, 21, 22, 28, 30, 31, 35, 37, 38, 44, 45, 46, 82, 99, 280, 340, and 400 will not be in service. Please click on the Maps & Schedules tab at the top of the page to find information on the bus routes that will be operating.

 

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 25-MARCH 1: Poplar Avenue between Front and Second will be closed to vehicle traffic due to the Mid-South Farm & Gin Show. During this time, customers traveling northbound to William Hudson Transit Center will transfer from the Main Street Trolley rail line to the Trolley Bus Shuttle at Jefferson and Main. EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1Route 53 Summer Shelby Oaks/Binghampton outbound trips at Watkins and North Parkway will be adjusted until noon due to the Crosstown 10K and 5K race. Outbound trips traveling north on Watkins will make a right turn on Faxon/Tutwiler, right on North Evergreen, left on North Parkway to continue onto the regular route. 

EFFECTIVE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Route 4 Walker Castalia trips will be adjusted due to safety concerns. Outbound trips traveling south on Cummings will make a right on Trigg, left on College, and a left on South Pkwy to continue onto the regular route. Inbound trips traveling west on South Pkwy will make a right on Cummings and continue on Cummings to continue onto the regular route. Signage has been posted on the affected bus stops.

EFFECTIVE MONDAY, JANUARY 20: Due to King holiday commemorations taking place downtown, outbound trips on Routes 2, 19, 34, 50, and 56 will be on detour from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. and all trips on Routes 4, 12, 13, and 39 will be on detour all day:

Route 2: Outbound trips will leave the William Hudson Transit Center, turn left on Shadyac, left on Third, right on A.W. Willis, right on Danny Thomas, and left on Adams to continue onto the regular route.

Route 19: Outbound trips will leave the William Hudson Transit Center, turn left on Shadyac, right on Third, left on Jackson, right on Lauderdale, and left on Alabama to continue onto the regular route.

Southbound trips will conclude at GE Patterson and Main where northbound trips will begin their regular route by traveling north on Main Street. 

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 26: Due to the Komen Memphis Race for the Cure and the ongoing detour from the Convention Center construction, there will be no bus service on Front Street from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Due to street closures related to the event, Routes 4, 12, 13, 34, 39, and 56 will be on detour in Downtown Memphis. Route 4 outbound trips will leave Hudson Transit Center, turn left on Shadyac, right on Second, left on Adams, right on Danny Thomas, and left on Vance to continue their regular route. Route 4 inbound trips will head west on Vance, turn right on Danny Thomas, left on Adams, right on B.B. King, left on A.W. Willis, and turn into Hudson Transit Center. Route 12 outbound trips will leave Hudson Transit Center, turn left on Shadyac, right on Second, left on Adams, right on Danny Thomas, right on Crump, and left on Florida to continue their regular route. Soulsville USA Fest Detour

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 14: Route 12 Inbound trips will not travel on Levi and will not serve the Indian Hills neighborhood until further notice due to MLGW blocking the intersection of Horn Lake and Levi. A MATA van will pick up and drop off passengers on bus stops on Levi and in Indian Hills and take them to where they can catch Route 12 Inbound.

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 12: Route 39 will be detoured off of Western Park due to the Westwood Neighborhood Association Community Festival from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Buses traveling west on Western Park will make a right on Deerland, left on Raines, left on Westmont, right on Ledbetter, left on Glenbrook, left on Western Park, and right on Bluebell to continue onto its regular route. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 7-MAY 1: All lanes of Front Street will be closed to thru traffic except for a limited access entrance to patrons entering the garage for events in both the Cannon Center and the Memphis Convention Center. The decision to close Front Street is a necessary, but a temporary measure to ensure the safety of everyone using the road during the renovation of the Memphis Convention Center. The Front Street closure will impact fixed bus routes 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 39 and 46 (both inbound and outbound). Outbound detour: buses will leave William Hudson Transit Center, turn left on Shadyac, right on Second, right on Adams, left on Front and continue on its regular route. Inbound detour: buses will travel north on Front, right on Adams, left on B.B. King, left on A.W. Willis and then turn into the William Hudson Transit Center. The following fixed route bus stops will also be affected:

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 21-23: Due to the I-240 MemFix4 road construction project, I-240 westbound from east and westbound Poplar Avenue will be temporarily closed for ramp repairs effective 6 a.m. Saturday, September 21 through 6 a.m. Monday, September 23.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 14: Due to the Southern Heritage Classic Cultural Celebration and the Cooper Young Festival, buses traveling on Routes 2 and 32 will be on detour all day and Route 57 will be on detour until 12 pm.

Route 2 inbound trips leaving Airways Transit Center will travel north on Airways, turn left on Lamar, right on McLean, right on Peabody, and turn left on Cooper to continue their regular route. Route 2 outbound trips traveling to Airways Transit Center will travel south on Cooper, turn right on Peabody, left on McLean, left on Lamar, and turn on right on Airways to continue their regular route. Route 2 outbound trips that usually travel to Tiger Lane (nighttime trips) will travel south on Cooper and turn on Central and end at the intersection of Central and East Parkway and not serve Tiger Lane. Route 2 inbound trips that usually travel from Tiger Lane (nighttime trips) will instead begin at the intersection of Central and East Parkway, turn left on East Parkway, left on Union, and turn right on Cooper to continue their regular route.

Route 32 northbound trips will travel north on Airways, turn left on Lamar, right on McLean, right on Union, and turn left on Alicia to continue their regular route. Route 32 southbound trips will travel south on Hollywood, turn right on Poplar, left on McLean, left on Lamar, and turn right on Airways to continue their regular route.

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 30-SEPTEMBER 6: Due to the Delta Fair and Music Festival taking place, Route 340 will detour at Germantown Parkway and Moore Road and will not serve the Agricenter. See the detour information below: 

Outbound: Continue on Walnut Grove to Timber Creek Drive, take a right on Timber Creek Drive, right on Germantown Parkway, left (ramp) onto Walnut Grove to start the inbound portion of the route.

Passengers who normally board at the Agricenter should board at stop #933, Germantown at Timber Creek. It is a shelter stop on the northbound side of Germantown and the far side of the intersection.

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 29: Routes 13 and 39 will be detoured downtown. Routes 13 and 39 outbound trips will travel south on Front, turn left on MLK, right on Second, and left on G.E. Patterson to continue their regular routes. Route 13 and 39 inbound trips will travel north on BB King, turn left on MLK, and right on Front to continue their regular routes. 

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 26: The Groove Shuttle will permanently add two new stops: Harbortown Circle and Dunlap at Adams (Le Bonheur Hospital). There will be a stop in both directions on Dunlap at Adams. The shuttle's current stop to serve St. Jude Hospital on A.W. Willis at Third will be moved to Third at Overton. See the map below. EFFECTIVE SATURDAY, MAY 25: Due to the Great American River Run,service will not begin on theRiverfront and Madison Trolley lines until 11 a.m. on that day. Detours will also take place on Routes 11, 13, and 39 due to this race. Route 11 outbound trips will start as regularly scheduled, but buses will turn right on Chelsea from Third and then turn left on Thomas to continue its regular route. Route 11 inbound trips will head south on Thomas down to Chelsea, turn right on Chelsea, and then turn left on Third to continue its regular route. Route 13 outbound trips will start as regularly scheduled, but will turn left on Vance from Front and then right on Fourth to continue its regular route. Route 13 inbound trips will head north on Fourth up to Vance, turn left on Vance, and then turn right on Front to continue their regular route. EFFECTIVE MONDAY, MAY 13: In partnership with the City of Memphis Traffic Engineering Department, the Memphis Area Transit Authority is working to improve safety and travel times by removing and relocating several stops on Vollintine Avenue effective MAY 13. These adjustments will ensure that stop spacing and placement on Vollintine reflects the Bus Stop Design & Accessibility Guidelines adopted by the MATA Board of Commissioners in 2017. EFFECTIVE MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Outbound trips on Routes 2, 50, and 56 will be moved off of Second Street due to the Teamsters Local 667 MLK Holiday Parade. Detoured trips will leave Hudson Transit Center, make a right on A.W. Willis, and a right on Danny Thomas before making a left onto the street each of these routes regularly travel when crossing Danny Thomas (Adams on Route 2, Poplar on Route 50, and Union on Route 56) in order to continue its regular route. The Main Street Trolley line may also experience service disruptions from 10-11 a.m. as the parade passes Main Street. These stops will be affected.

EFFECTIVE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30 AND SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1: All bus routes serving Downtown will be on detour due to the 2018 St. Jude Memphis Marathon from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday and several routes will be on detour beginning Friday at 9 p.m. until Saturday at 2 p.m. Three shuttles will be available from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday to connect customers from Downtown to transfer points. All trolley service will be suspended on Saturday until 2 p.m.

EFFECTIVE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3: Due to the Big River Crossing Marathon + 5K event, the following service is impacted:

Main Street Trolley:

The Half Marathon and 5K will cross the tracks on Main Street at Jefferson and Beale. This will take place between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. At this time, the Main Street Trolley is expected to only experience minor delays. 

Riverfront Trolley:

Riverside Drive will be closed from 5 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Since service on the Riverfront Trolley line begins at 8:30 a.m., delays or detours are not expected. 

EFFECTIVE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2-MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5: Due to the Indie Film Festival, Cooper Street is expected to be closed between Monroe and Union. Given this, the Route 2 Madison will have to travel on McLean (instead of Cooper) between Madison and Union until it returns to its regular route at Union and Cooper. Buses traveling outbound on Madison will turn right on McLean, left on Union, and right on Cooper. Buses traveling inbound on Cooper will turn left on Union, right on McLean and left on Madison.

Riverfront Trolley: No service until after Race for the Cure ends which is anticipated to take place at noon. After that time, buses traveling on the Riverfront Trolley line will operate outbound from the William Hudson Transit Center to Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid and then from the Pyramid to Front Street and will remain on Front Street to GE Patterson Avenue. From there, the route will operate (as normal) to the William Hudson Transit Center. These route changes are due to the River Arts Festival.

Madison: No service until after Race for the Cure ends which is anticipated to take place at noon.

SUNDAY, October 28:

Buses traveling on the Riverfront Trolley line will operate outbound from the William Hudson Transit Center to Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid and then from the Pyramid to Front Street and will remain on Front Street to GE Patterson Avenue. From there, the route will operate (as normal) to the William Hudson Transit Center. These route changes are due to the River Arts Festival.

2018 Race for the Cure Detour Map

EFFECTIVE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20: The Soulsville USA Festival will close College Street from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. which will impact the Castalia trips on Route 4 Walker. Outbound trips will continue south on Mississippi, turn left on McLemore and then continue its regular route on McLemore. Inbound trips will continue west on McLemore and turn right on Mississippi and then continue its regular route on Mississippi. Stops that will be impacted are listed here.

EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17: Due to the National Civil Rights Museum Freedom Award event taking place on Wednesday, October 17 that will cause Main Street to be closed from Peabody Place to MLK Jr. Avenue, the Main Street Trolley will operate on an abbreviated route. Trolley cars traveling both northbound and southbound will operate from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. from the William Hudson Transit Center to Peabody Place only. EFFECTIVE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13: Due to the Legends Are Born In October benefit fundraiser for Melrose High School, buses traveling on Route 57 on Park between Airways and Lamar will be on detour beginning at 5 p.m. until the route ends service. Buses traveling eastbound will continue on Lamar, make a left on Airways, a right turn on Park, and then continue on the regular route. EFFECTIVE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 THROUGH MONDAY, OCTOBER 1: The Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close a stretch of Poplar Avenue east and westbound this weekend.

The closures are as follows: 

· Friday, September 28, 9:00 p.m. until Monday, October 1, 6:00 a.m. Closure of Poplar Avenue east and westbound. * I-240 east and westbound will be OPEN. See attached map.

In addition to this weekend’s closure, contract crews will be working during the overnight hours in preparation for bridge work.

In addition to this weekend’s full interstate closure, contract crews will be working during the overnight hours this week in preparation for the bridge work.

The NIGHTLY closures are scheduled as follows:

• Wednesday, September 19 and Thursday, September 20, 9 p.m.-6 a.m. – Each night there will be lane closures on Poplar Avenue westbound.

*The ramp from I-240 eastbound to Poplar Avenue westbound will be CLOSED.

*The ramp from Poplar Avenue westbound to I-240 westbound will be CLOSED.

During the closures, all interstate traffic will be detoured around the north I-40 loop and the south I-240 loop. Both Poplar Avenue eastbound and westbound will also be closed. Additional closures will include the I-40 eastbound exits to White Station/Summer Avenue and Sam Cooper. Walnut Grove and Park Avenue will be open, but access to I-240 will be prohibited. Message boards will alert motorists to the closures and alternate routes. Drivers are advised to plan ahead.

Full closures of I-240 and Poplar Avenue are also planned for several weekends in October. Announcements regarding those closures will be made prior to those weekends. Outbound trips to Airways Transit Center: south on Cooper, left on Central, right on East Parkway and Inbound trips from Airways Transit Center: north on East Parkway, left on Central, right on Cooper. Outbound trips scheduled to Tiger Lane will end at Central and East Parkway. Outbound trips to East Parkway and Central: south on Cooper, left on Central to East Parkway and Inbound trips from East Parkway and Central: north on East Parkway, left on Union, right on Cooper.

EFFECTIVE BEGINNING FROM 9-11 A.M. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8:Due to the Orange Mound Parade which is a part of the Southern Heritage Classic weekend, Route 57 will be on detour beginning at 9 a.m. and is expected to last two hours: Outbound: left on Barron, left on Semmes, right on Park and Inbound: left on Semmes, right on Barron, and right on Lamar.

EFFECTIVE BEGINNING AT NOON UNTIL THE END OF SCHEDULED SERVICE ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8: Due to the Southern Heritage Classic event taking place at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, the following routes will detour:

Buses traveling on Route 32 heading southbound will take a right on Poplar, left on Cooper, cross tracks to S. Parkway to Lamar, left on Lamar and right on Airways/ Buses traveling on Route 32 heading northbound will travel on Airways, take a left on Lamar, right on S. Parkway and cross tracks to Cooper, take a right on Union, and then a left on Alicia. Buses traveling on Route 2 heading outbound will be blocked at Young and E. Parkway so buses will travel South on Cooper, cross tracks to S. Parkway to Lamar, left on Lamar, take a right on Airways and return to normal route. Route 2 inbound buses headed toward downtown will travel on Airways, left on Lamar, right on S. Parkway, cross tracks to Cooper and return to normal route.

EFFECTIVE FROM FRIDAY, AUGUST 31-SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9:Due to the Delta Fair, the 34L will detour at Germantown Parkway and Moore Road. OUTBOUND: Continue on Walnut Grove to Timber Creek Drive, take a right on Timber Creek Drive, right on South Germantown Parkway, left (ramp) onto Walnut Grove. INBOUND: Reverse the route. EFFECTIVE FROM FRIDAY, AUGUST 24-MONDAY, AUGUST 27:The Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close a stretch of I-240 from the I-40/I-240 split to the I-240/SR 385 split, as well as Poplar Avenue east and westbound during the following time period: Friday, August 24, 9 p.m. until Monday, August 27, 6 a.m. – FULL CLOSURE of I-240 east and westbound and Poplar Avenue east and westbound. MATA will detour Route 50 Poplar as follows:

OUTBOUND: Poplar, right on Estate, left on Park Avenue, left on Ridgeway, and right on Poplar over regular route. INBOUND: Reverse the route.

EFFECTIVE FROM 9 P.M. ON AUGUST 17-6 A.M. ON AUGUST 20: Due to the Tennessee Department of Transportation closure of the Poplar Avenue bridge over I-240 from 9 p.m. Friday, August 17 – 6 a.m. Monday, August 20, MATA will detour Route 50 Poplar as follows:

OUTBOUND: Poplar, right on Estate, left on Park Avenue, left on Ridgeway, and right on Poplar over regular route.

INBOUND: Reverse the route.

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 13: MLGW will repair a water leak from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. at 505 South Main. Due to this repair, service on the Main Street Trolley will be closed from Butler to GE Patterson. The Main Street Trolley will turn at the crossover in front of the MLGW Corporate Offices located at 220 South Main from 6:45 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 13. Trolley stations not served during the closure are MLK (northbound), Huling Station (northbound and southbound) and Butler Station (northbound and southbound).Customers can use the Riverfront Trolley buses(traveling northbound) from Butler to Beale and transfer to the Main Street Trolley line.

EFFECTIVE IN JULY: The Tennessee Department of Transportation recently announced road closures along a stretch of I-240 from the I-40/I-240 split through to the I-40/SR 385 split for a major bridge project for several weekends in July:

 The NIGHTLY closures are scheduled as follows:

· Wednesday, July 11 and Thursday, July 12 each night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. - Poplar Avenue westbound at I-240 will have intermittent lane closures with one lane remaining open. The I-240 eastbound ramp to Poplar Avenue westbound will be closed. I-240 will remain open.

· Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19, each night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – I-240 westbound will have a lane closed and the Poplar Avenue ramps to I-240 westbound will be CLOSED.

 The FULL CLOSURES are as follows:

· Friday, July 13, 9:00 p.m. until Monday, July 16, 6:00 a.m. – Poplar Avenue eastbound will be closed at the I-240 interchange. I-240 will remain open.

· Friday, July 13, 12:00 a.m. (midnight) until Monday, July 16, 6:00 a.m. – Poplar Avenue westbound will be closed at the I-240 interchange. The I-240 eastbound ramp to Poplar Avenue westbound will be closed. I-240 will remain open.

· Friday, July 20, 9:00 p.m. until Monday, July 23, 6:00 a.m. – FULL CLOSURE of I-240 east and westbound and Poplar Avenue east and westbound.

· Friday, July 27, 9:00 p.m. until Monday, July 30, 6:00 a.m. – FULL CLOSURE of I-240 east and westbound and Poplar Avenue east and westbound.

A final decision for each closure will be made the Wednesday before the scheduled work.

During the closures, all interstate traffic will be detoured around the north I-40 loop and the south I-240 loop. Both Poplar Avenue eastbound and westbound will also be closed during these weekends. Walnut Grove and Park Avenue will be open, but access to I-240 will be prohibited. 

Here's the detour for MATA Route 50: Inbound: left on Massey, right on Park Street, left on Poplar and reverse on the outbound. Any bus stops that are affected by the detour will be identified and information will be placed on the stops to direct customers to nearby stops where the buses will pick up passengers. EFFECTIVE JUNE 6: Due to traffic blocked, Route 52 buses traveling inbound and outbound at Jackson and Mamie are detoured and will take the following route: right on Mamie, left on Tant, left on Ronnie, right on Jackson and then return to regular route. Supervisors assisting. 

EFFECTIVE JUNE 6: Due to traffic blocked, Route 69 buses traveling north and southbound at Goodlett and Cottonwood are detoured and will take the following route: right on Getwell, right on Winchester and then return to regular route.

EFFECTIVE JUNE 6: Attention Customers: Due to a non-MATA involved vehicular accident, Route 37 buses traveling north and southbound at Perkins and Quince are detoured and will take the following route: right on Quince, left on Sea Isle, right on Willow and then return to regular route. Northbound buses will take the same detour in reverse. 

EFFECTIVE MAY 18: Attention Customers: The Memphis Police Department is holding a Law Enforcement Memorial Day beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 18. This will impact Main Street Trolley rail service. MATA will operate rubber-wheeled trolley buses in the morning on Main Street (not the Mall) to provide service until the rail trolleys can begin operating again at 2 p.m. MATA apologizes for any inconvenience. EFFECTIVE IN MAY: Due to several Memphis In May events planned, please expect delays due to crowds and traffic in Downtown Memphis. The Riverfront Trolley (Bus) line is also on detour:

Monday-Thursday: Leaving Bass Pro, take right on Front Street, left on G.E. Patterson, and return to regular route.

Friday-Sunday (outbound): Leaving Bass Pro, take right on Front Street, left on Union, right on Second Street to G.E. Patterson, and return to regular route.

Friday-Sunday (inbound): Main to Right on Martin Luther King, Jr., left on B.B. King, left on Exchange, and right on Main. 

EFFECTIVE APRIL 4:

Due to events taking place through parts of downtown Memphis next week related to the MLK50 commemoration events, the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) will detour the following bus routes all day on Wednesday, April 4:

Route 4 Walker: Inbound to Mississippi, right on Crump, left on Walnut, left on Union, right on Danny Thomas, left on Poplar, right on B.B. King, left on Shadyac, and left to return to route. Outbound will travel on Second, take left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, follow the ramp to make left on Union, right on Manassas, right on Crump, left on Mississippi, and return to route.

Route 5 Central: Inbound to MLK, right on Manassas, left on Union, right on Danny Thomas, left on Poplar, right on B.B. King to Hudson Transit Center. Outbound trips will take a right on Second, left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, left on Union, right on Walnut, right on Crump, left on Mississippi and return to route.

Route 7 Air Park: Outbound trips will travel on Second, take a left on Poplar, right on Danny Thomas, left on Union, right on East, left on Lamar, and return to route. 

Route 13 Lauderdale: Inbound to Lathan, left on McLemore, right on Third, left on MLK, right on Front and return to regular route. Outbound trips will travel on Front, left on MLK, right on Second, left on G.E. Patterson, right on BB King, left on McLemore, right on Latham and return to regular route.

Route 57 Park: Inbound to McLemore, right on Third, left on MLK, right on Front and return to regular route. Outbound trips will travel on Front, take a left on MLK, right on Second, left on G.E. Patterson, right on Third, left on McLemore, and return to regular route. 

The Madison Trolley Bus will be on regular route traveling outbound but when buses on this route travel inbound on Madison Avenue, it will take a right onto to B.B. King, right on Court, a right on Fourth, left on Madison and return to regular route. 

The Main Street Trolley Bus will be on regular route traveling outbound on Second, take a right on MLK, right on Front and return to regular route toward the Hudson Transit Center.

The Riverfront Trolley Bus will be on regular route to G.E. Patterson and Front, make a left on Front and return to regular route toward the Hudson Transit Center. 

In addition, rail trolley testing will not occur April 1-April 5. Rail trolleys will also not be in operation for any of the MLK50 events. 

EFFECTIVE MARCH 15 THROUGH JANUARY 12, 2019:

The City of Memphis Division of Engineering Office has announced that South Main Street between G.E. Patterson Avenue and St Paul Avenue will be closed to through traffic for the construction of the Central Station Renovation Project. This will affect the normal route of the trolley buses. The signed detour route will make use of G.E. Patterson Avenue, South Second Street and St Paul Avenue. EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 24:

Since the City of Memphis-sponsored I AM A MAN MARCH is taking place in downtown Memphis, none of the MATA trolley bus lines -- Main, Riverfront, and Madison -- will operate on this day until the march concludes. At this time, none of the fixed bus routes that run through parts of downtown Memphis are expected to be affected. Stay tuned to this page for additional updates as more information becomes available closer to the date of the I AM A MAN MARCH. 

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 18:

UPDATE as of 2:30 p.m.: Route 17 is back on the regular route.

Route 17 is currently on detour due to some work being performed by MLGW. Buses will turn right off of McLemore onto Wilson, take a left onto South Parkway and return to regular route.

At this time, buses traveling on Route 18 will not travel to the end of the line due to slick roads at Smith Ridge and Suncrest. Customers can catch the bus at Hawkins Mill and Range Line. 

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 17:

As of 6 a.m., Route 12 will travel southbound on Horn Lake, right on Third, left on Raines, left on Horn Lake and return to regular route (not traveling to Indian Hills).

As of 5:30 a.m., Route 11 is in service but will be on detour today. If you catch a bus on Route 11, MATA operators will not pick you up at the shelter located at Frayser and Watkins due to the detour caused by the icy road conditions. The bus will travel westbound on Frayser, left on Watkins, right on Dellwood, continue to Whitney to Danny Thomas to Chelsea and then take a right on Chelsea, left on Third and reverse route.

As of 4:15 a.m., MATA is not operating Route 6. Route 18 is in service but will detour: South on Watkins, right on St. Elmo, right on Range Line, left on Frayser Boulevard to regular route. Route 42 is in service except that it will travel north on Watkins, right on Frayser, turn around in the parking lot at Frayser Plaza and layover there. Buses on Route 42 will not travel on Whitney or University due to the conditions of those streets.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 16:

Routes 2, 32 and 39 are back on regular routes. 

Route 39 will travel south on Hodge, make a right on Shelby Drive, right on Neely, and return to its regular route.

As of 7:36 a.m., MATA is not operating Route 26. 

As of 7 a.m., MATA is not operating the following routes (in addition to the previously announced #6 route): 22, 38, 82, and 98.

Route 4 Alcy will travel east on Alcy, left on Perry, left on Bald Road, and then return to regular route.

Route 32 traveling northbound from Airways Transit Center will make a right on Democrat, left on Lamar, left on Semmes, left on Pendleton, right on Ketchum and return to regular route.

Route 12 will travel southbound on Horn Lake, right on Third, left on Raines, left on Horn Lake and return to regular route (not traveling to Indian Hills).

Route 38 will travel west on Fields Road, left on Sweeney, right on Boxtown, left on Boxtown, and return to regular route.

Route 69 will travel southbound on Mitchell to Weaver to Fields to Outlet and return to Mitchell. 

Route 11 will be on detour. Buses along this route will travel down Danny Thomas to Chelsea to Third Street going inbound and outbound.

Route 7 will operate on Shelby Drive, not Holmes Road.

Due to the weather, Route 6 will not operate today. Route 18 is in service except for this detour: South on Watkins, right on St. Elmo, right on Range Line, left on Frayser Boulevard to regular route.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15: 

All MATA trolley lines will be delayed until about 2 p.m. until the MLK parade concludes today.

The MLK parade route will begin lining up at 9:30 am at A.W. Willis and Main Street. All buses that use Front Street will use Danny Thomas to Alabama to Third Street into the Hudson Transit Center. The 50 Poplar will make a right on Danny Thomas, left on Alabama to Third Street into the Hudson Transit Center. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 13:

UPDATE: Route 18 is now in service at 11:55 a.m. at Frayser Plaza. For more updates, call 901.274.MATA (6282).

UPDATE: Route 13 is now in service at Alice and Laramie at 10:52 a.m.

Route 18 is in service route except for this detour: South on Watkins, right on St. Elmo, right on Range Line, left on Frayser Boulevard to regular route.

Due to icy conditions on G.E. Patterson and Vance Streets, all buses are being detoured off of Front Street in both directions.

Buses traveling northbound to and from the William Hudson Transit Center will use Third Street.

Buses traveling southbound to and from the William Hudson Transit Center will use Second Street. 

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 18: The first inbound trip on Route 11 Frayser Raleigh will depart at 5:10 a.m. from Frayser Plaza instead of at 5:20 a.m. in order to improve connections at the William Hudson Transit Center. The schedule has been updated on the Maps & Schedules page of the MATA website, and new printed schedules will be available next month.

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 3-5: The Indie Memphis Film Festival is taking place and will affect fixed route bus operations. It will affect Route 2:

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 28: Round the Mound 5K Run/Walk will take place from 7:30-11 a.m. and will affect fixed route bus operations. Several buses will be on detour:

Trolley Bus Notice

All trolley bus routes: Main Street, Riverfront and Madison will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. 

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 27-29: The River Arts Festival will affect fixed route and trolley bus operations. Several buses will be on detour: 

Beginning October 27 at 4:30 p.m. until October 29 at 7 p.m., the Main Street Trolley will be on its regular route until it takes a right on Poplar, left on Front, left on MLK, right on Main, left on Talbot, right on St. Martin, right on Huling, right on Main Street, and then returning to its regular route.

Beginning October 27 at 4:30 p.m. until October 29 at 7 p.m., the Riverfront Trolley will be on its regular route traveling southbound to G.E. Patterson and Front, left on Front to Poplar, and then returning to its regular route.

Inbound: North on Florida, right on Crump, left on Third, left on MLK, right on Front, and then returning to its regular route. 

Outbound: East on Shadyac, right on Third, right on Jackson, left on Front, left on MLK, right on Second, right on Third, right on Jackson, left on Front, left on MLK, right on Second, left on GE Patterson, right on Third, right on Crump, left on Florida, and then returning to its regular route. 

13 Lauderdale

Inbound: North on Fourth, left on Crump, right on Third, left on MLK, and then returning to its regular route. 

Outbound: East on Shadyac, right on Third, right on Jackson, left on Front, left on MLK, right on Second, left on GE Patterson, right on Third, left on Crump, right on Fourth and then returning to its regular route. 

39 S Third

Inbound: North on Third, left on MLK, right on Front, and returning to its regular route. 

Outbound: East on Shadyac, right on Third, right on Jackson, left on Front, left on MLK, right on Second, left on GE Patterson, right on Third and then returning to its regular route. 

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 25, 2017: The American Way Transit Center will be closed from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. due to repairs. Portable restroom facilities will be available outside of the Transit Center.

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 21, 2017: The Big River Half Marathon will affect trolley bus operations. Trolley buses will be on detour from 7:45-10 a.m. Here's the detour:

The Main Street Trolley bus will travel on its regular route and take a right on Poplar, a left on Front Street, a left on MLK, a right on Main Street, a left on Talbot, a right onto St. Martin, a right on Huling, a right on Main Street, and then return to the regular route. The Riverfront Trolley bus will travel on its regular route to Bass Pro and then take a right on Front Street to G.E. Patterson and then turn left on Main Street. The Madison Trolley bus will operate on its regular route with some delay in service.

Effective September 23, 2017: Due to the St. Jude Marathon blockage, MATA will be on detour, starting at 8:00 A.M.-12 P.M. on Saturday, 09/23/2017 for routes traveling in the downtown area.

Route 2: Adams, right Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left Shadyac and left into WHTC. Exit left on A.W. Willis, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 4: Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St., left A.W. Wills and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 8: Chelsea, left 3rd street, right Mills, left Main St., left Shadyac, and left into WHTC. Exit left A. W. Willis, right Main and reverse route.

Route 11: Left Chelsea, right 3rd St., right Mills, left Main St., left Shadyac and left into WHTC. Exit left A. W. Willis

right Main St. and reverse route.

Route12: Crump left,3rd St., right Vance, left Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left A.W. Wills and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 19: Alabama, right Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left Shadyac and left into WHTC. Exit left A. W. Willis, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 34, 36, and 56: Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St., left A.W. Willis and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 39: 3rd St., right Vance, left Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left A.W. Wills and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St. and reverse the route.

Route 40: Thomas right Mills, left Shadyac, left into WHTC. Exit left A. W. Willis, right Main St. and reverse route back to Thomas over regular route.

Route 50: Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St., left A.W. Wills and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St.

and reverse the route.

Route 52: Jackson to Mills, left Main St., left Shadyac, left into WHTC. Exit left A.W. Willis, right Main St. reverse route.

Route 53: N.Parkway, right Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left Shadyac and left into WHTC. Exit left on A. W. Willis, right Main St. and reverse the route. 

Route 57: Danny Thomas, left on Mills, left Main St. left A.W. Wills and right into WHTC. Exit right on Shadyac, right Main St.

and reverse the route.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 15, 2017: The Cooper Young 4 Miler Festival takes place at 7 p.m. MATA buses traveling on Route 2 & 35 will be detoured for the race from 5:30-9 p.m. Here's the detour:

Line 2 outbound: Madison, right on Cooper, left on Central, right on East Parkway and then back onto the regular route.

Line 2 inbound: East Parkway, left on Central, right on Cooper, left on Madison and then back onto the regular route.

Line 35 eastbound: South Parkway to Cooper, right on Southern, left on Highland and then back onto the regular route.

Line 35 westbound: Highland, right on Southern, left on Cooper, right on South Parkway, and then back onto the regular route.

EFFECTIVE JUNE 29, 2017: Due to some recent changes and developments on Peabody Place, the MATA Main Street and Riverfront trolley bus routes operating between Second Street and Front Street will have to detour off of Peabody Place. MATA will use Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue instead. 

EFFECTIVE JUNE 28, 2017: Due to a water main break at Corporate and Dividend, MATA is detouring Route 99 Nonconnah for an estimated two to three days until the service work is completed by Memphis, Light, Gas and Water. The bus will travel westbound on Nonconnah, take a left on Millbranch, take a left on Brooks and then travel to the Airways Transit Center. A bus supervisor will monitor the area from 6:34 a.m.-5:54 p.m.
